Moved a core rail scheduling application to a new domain, a new database platform and containers.
The brief
The electronic train graph, a core rail scheduling application, needed to move to a new domain, onto a newer database platform and towards container-based deployment.
What we did
- Joined the project team on secondment to manage the remediation.
- Moved the application to the new domain and upgraded its database platform.
- Moved deployment towards containers on enterprise Linux.
- Managed requirements, tasks, test cases and test plans, and worked with the vendor on code management and the container registry.
- Designed the solution with the client's architecture team and wrote the handover-to-support documentation.
